People tend to worry about the social impact their views or interests might have. It's why droll colloquialisms "Bad case of the Mondays" exist.
I've met girls who casually call themselves feminists, but they hold discriminatory views against themselves.
And my boss is /pol/ as fuck. Makes black/nigger jokes, misogynistic jokes around girls in the office, and literally went out and bought a gun because of Muslims. Also, I'm black and he fucking loves me. He's a bit of a Chad, but he's a pretty cool guy.
I knew plenty of robots in high school and college. Never met a furry, though. Don't really want to.

Oh, man. One of my best friends is a woman who used to be FtM. She's now a lesbian. Her wife is both a feminist and openly a furry. Also know a gal who I sometimes run into at raves who is a full blown, women do nothing wrong, Tumblr tier feminist. They exist.

I can't speak for all those others but this should be a testament to the fact that Furries aren't these fag-queens everyone seems to think they are on the internet. Some people just really like anthropomorphs, some of them just have a fetish. There are outliers like >>26438722 but they're just that; outliers.
I'm a furry as well, but I wouldn't admit to it offline the same way I wouldn't mention that I'm into foreskin play, and the only one I have met IRL only said so because he saw me drawing a dog guy in a sketchbook once.
I've never met an otherkin, though, I'm convinced those aren't a thing outside of Tumblr and TV shows.
