I've been in a similar setting, although I wasn't the one getting laid off since I'm an American worker. Really fucking sucked for the other people though, the guy was so callous about telling them he's fucking them over. Just a "we really value you, but there's no use sugar coating it, so i'm just going to say it straight up and get it over with, go fuck yourselves, your jobs are gone."
