/b failed me, so did /pol. I have nowhere left to turn. Alright let's try this again. I know one of you retards has to read.

One of you suggested I read this book and it is blowing my mind. I thought king Arthur was gay. But this is anything but. It is hilarious and really dark and brutal at some points. But also innocent and sweet. It is a mind fuck and insanely unpredictable. I suggest picking it up.

Can you niggers suggest more books to read. I collect used books so I will buy what ever you suggest and eventually read it. You guys have suggested really good shit in the past.

Name some good books niggers.

(I know this isn't /lit. Those guys are the most stuck up bunch of faggots on this website)

Neato. New fantasy. I have just put it in my goodreads list. I will pick it up when I see it. How many have you read? I try not to get into bigs serieseses these days cuz I have so much to read. But that never stops me. Dune took up a good half a year. That was a good 6 months.

Naked Lunch is a good read, I think. Haven't read it since high school but I read it over 20 times through and it was like reading a different book every time because I didn't understand a goddamn thing.

Also His Dark Materials trilogy. Golden Compass movie was shit, but the books are fucking great.
>>
>>26421727
Yeah, I guess we just don't "get it." I've had an easier time reading books on C++ with no coding experience and poor math comprehension than that fucking book but the couple people I talked to that liked it said they had no trouble following it.

I swear they were just fucking with me.
>>
>>26422538
>His Dark Materials trilogy
I was gonna suggest that but couldn't quite decide if it was nostalgia due to being young when I read it. But yeah, it felt pretty epic and somehow eye opening at the time.

>they did indeed fuck the movie up so bad
>>
>>26422552
I think they are just fucking with you. I got a buddy of mine to read it and he did the same thing I did. Gave it 2 shots over the couple of years and gave it away. I came back to it a smarter more mature reader. Ready to finish it no matter what an soldier on even if I didn't like it a I still threw it away. Fuck maybe one day I'll do it.
>>
How about Satan Burger? I was surprised that I liked it because I went into it with the title and cover seeming "so edgy XD" but gave it a chance and it was interesting fantasy even if it was kind of shallow.

All right fantasy for a quick enjoyable read for sure

T.H White's version is dank as balls.

Man, some of the cheeky stuff he put in, like where Arthur meets Thomas Malory, it's great fun.

But then the sad passages of Guinevere aging really stabbed me in the gut. It was the passage about the eventual realisation of a childless woman.

If you like flawed protagonists and dark/brutal mixed with beautiful and sweet then I reckon you'd like the first trilogy of the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series.

The second trilogy is really good as well but I haven't read the recent continuation from there.
Honestly the first trilogy has the most horrific passage I have ever read in it, not because of gore or spookles or whatever it is just really well written and you actually care about the world and the characters.

Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. It's a romantic tragedy with little to no romance.
It's about some guy who lives in an empty bleak landscape in a small town isolated by a harsh environment.
He's felt crushed under social obligations his whole life. First having to take care of his ailing parents then some nurse who assisted him whom he later married out of convenience, but she becomes sick quickly and he becomes obligated to helping her too.
Daily he toils long hours on his farm just to be poor and barely get by.
These unfortunate circumstances hold him back from his earlier dreams of becoming educated and seeking a better life.
There's not a lot of dialogue in the book. In fact the other two major themes besides isolation, which I feel are things we all can relate to, is silence and escapism.
His most major mean of escaping his dreadful reality is fantasizing about leaving his short loveless marriage for his wife's cousin. I feel John Green's Paper Towns rehashed this. It's the sort of bad escapism that stems from idealizing women which leads to bad consequences.
It's my favorite book, but most people find it boring from what I see. It's one of the few books that has legit made me sad about a character who felt so trapped.
Also don't worry about this spoiling too much if you're interested. All of this is gone over in the first chapter.
>>
>>26422680
Man, glad to know I'm not the only one.

Still read it over 20 times as a young reader trying to figure out what makes the book so popular. I got into it after On The Road and into the whole beat generation of writers when I was in high school, it was so cool to me to just drift around and experience whatever may happen anywhere you go as a kid going to school every day.

I like it as a time-killer and taking away something different from it every time I read it so if you can't bring yourself to finish it don't, I swear there's no resolution. Just unanswered questions and looping it again.
>>
>>26422761
Man I just got to when the gaelic kid kills the fucking unicorn. Went from beautiful to holyfuckingshit in 1 paragraph. The comedy is so goddamn good. Like how did this exist so long ago.

A fun read, and if you invest in the audio book from Audible, a fantastic one,as the reader Simon Vance brings the characters to life in all their eccentricities. They made a good miniseries from it. Watch this:
https://youtu.be/GsQJ8nYvyLE

And speaking of Vance, try Jack Vance. The Lyoness trilogy, Cugel's Saga, the Dying Earth. High fantasy with truly lyrical prose.
