Haven't picked one yet (though of course I got the ending spoiled months ago anyway) The minutemen are alright but a bit small, the BOS are cool but the whole army thing is a bit gay. It was awesome when I was in a fight and they send people down from a helicopter and kicked ass though. Institute I don't know much about and I haven't yet met the railroad. Yeah the minutemen are good on paper but their quests are all radiant garbage bar 'the castle' and being the general feels like a complete ceremonial role (more so than the others) where you have no authority and Preston runs things.
You should do missions for all of them regardless of your feelings though, the damn game doesn't have that many non-faction quests so to ignore one (unless you're planning to replay with a new character) results in missing out chunks of quests. They warn you before you start a mission if it will make you hostile to a group so don't worry about becoming too buddy-buddy with one.

It'll pass. When I first started I had a hard time with that too. I couldn't tell if something had actually happened or if it was a dream. Lasted about 4-5 weeks for me.
You'll notice a lot of the side effects pass over time. Best to keep your GP or whoever prescribed you updated whenever you see them though.

I was just sat in the shower thinking about how it is quite a nice day outside and 8 or 9 years ago, because it is half term break, I would be out with my friends now hanging out at one of our spots skating and stuff. i don't have friends anymore, though. I was thinking about why life seemed to be so much more, real, so to speak, back then. Why I'd wake up looking forward to each new day and nothing seemed to really matter. I came to the conclusion a big part of it was because hope existed back then. It was infinite in fact. Anything was possible, life was new and an adventure and this made life worth living. These days all hope of anything is gone and life is one long monotonous slog up until the day we finally get to die.

I watched Cowboy Bebop years and years ago. Followed Code Geass and TTGL while they were airing due to hearing good stuff about them on here. Also watched different anime very occasionally.
Never really got properly into anime until around 2012. Since then, I've seen around 7 or 800 different series.
