My parents were alcoholics too, OP. My dad was a lawyer, making $500,000 a year. He and my mom blew it all on alcohol. He lost his job because he got too many DUIs. He never thought to make me or my sisters a college fund, so we all gotta take out a shit ton of loans. At least I get max financial aid because my parents' income right now is basically zero.
