Can someone explain to me Trump's appeal?

I just watched his victory speech and it seemed barely coherent.

First he said Sanders is going to give america away. To whom? What does this even mean?

Then he said something like "we're going to make america great, just wait and see it's gonna be so great". That's just his slogan. It doesn't even mean anything.

Then he said we're going to fight china and Japan. What does that mean? I assume it's not about war so it must be about economics. Why would you need to defeat Japan of all places. Japan has been stuck in a deflationary spiral for like a decade. They went 7x on the nominal supply of money and they're still in there.

Did he mean he would try to run a trade surplus? Does any of the guys cheering like an idiot know how exactly you run a net trade surplus? When you're already a country with a capital intensive industry, you can only press down unit labor costs. That is intentionally suppress wages so that your products become more competitive. Then this unbalances everything. You get an influx of currency from the newly christened net importers which fucks with their liquidity until they are in a depression. Their depression brings their unit labor costs down, which eliminates your trade surplus and you have to press your wages even more through the hole you just dug in the ground to reopen it. That's basically what Germany has been doing for over a decade, now. Jesus fuck it's literally what Ricardo was arguing against.

How does anyone think this is a good idea? His financial platform is literally "I'll tie myself to some other countries, then shoot myself in the face so that we can all sink down this lake".

He's going to make America great again by restoring our national pride, taking care of our veterans, bringing jobs back from Mexico, China, India, and others, in addition to deleting ISIS and building the Great Wall of America. Trump will also delete Common Core and send all illegals back to their home countries, and will make our military so strong and so powerful that we won't have to use it.
>>
>>26380177

>First he said Sanders is going to give america away. To whom? What does this even mean?

by taxing the dicks out of the 1%, lots of companies are going to bail on the US and move elsewhere.

Lets dispel this fiction once and for all we are building a wall, a very great one. We will let the very best ones back in LEGALLY

CHInA is KiLLING US

Do you understand now?
>>
>>26380177

Trump isn't bought and owned by corporations and big banks. This is the first time in hundreds of years that the greatest empire on Earth can elect a politician who acts in our interests and does what is right, rather than what his donors command.

That's why Trump is special.

That's actually a really good summary.

>bringing jobs back from Mexico, China, India, and others

How will he do that exactly. Will he compete with China over unit labor costs? Because I'm telling you right now I would pay to see that happen. Americans working in sweatshops 18 hours a day is going to be very accelerationist in a very cartoony way.

It also sounds like it would do wonders for their national pride.

>will make our military so strong and so powerful that we won't have to use it.

The american military already has enough firepower to destroy the world a couple of times. I don't think it can get any more powerful.

>Trump will also delete Common Core

What does this mean and why is it a good thing?

How will he "delete" ISIS? Will he work with Russia and Assad? Will he back the kurds? Will he take part in that war?

>>26380279
>by taxing the dicks out of the 1%, lots of companies are going to bail on the US

What corporate tax rate does Sanders propose?

>>26380311
>Lets dispel this fiction once and for all we are building a wall

So, you're pressing immigrant wages further down below whatever the equilibrium wage is in the US.

>CHInA is KiLLING US

How so?

>>26380356
>Trump isn't bought and owned by corporations and big banks.

Because he's an actual millionaire. Millionaires generally don't need to be financed by other millionaires. So instead of paying for someone else to do what he wants, he is running for office himself, to do what he wants. Now, that's charming (legitimately) and entertaining (very much so) but it's somewhat strange to present the actual establishment as anti-establishment.

Bernie and Trump's success are both hinged on a severe dissatisfaction and distrust growing among the American public towards their government. Being rich isn't unique to Trump- Perot was a billionaire and of course Romney himself was a worth a few hundred million.
Separately, Trump is also riding on demographic shifts that bring great unease to people because every successful society in history since we were chasing animals with pointy sticks has been founded and maintained on ethnic identity.

I don't follow American politics enough to care about who wins, but I really really want it to end up being Trump against Bernie in the elections, just imagine all the memes that will be born in that kind of battle. A Sanders vs Clinton election would be so boring in comparison.
>>
>>26380488
Sanders literally can't do anything, because the congress will stay republican.

If you're a true socialist the only option is to vote for Trump. He will have free reign to do whatever he wants.

Ergo: Communism by 2018.

There are still limits to Republican obstructionism because it hits their reputation hard eventually. A good example is the time out credit rating was downgraded when the government shut down over the debt ceiling "debate". Early on some Republicans were pleading with the others to be reasonable because it was hitting the party with very damaging PR.
Granted, people are idiots and it didn't last as long as it should have but it can add up.
>>

he is le funny reality show reddit candidate
that's literally all
>>
>>26380177
Do you really want to know? The answer is fuck you.

I'm being serious here. He's the fuck you candidate. Everybody who supports him is doing so because fuck the left. On the surface - which is the only place anyone cares about in politics - he's the complete opposite of the left, and him winning would be the biggest insult the right could bring to bear against them. It doesn't matter if his actual policies are just as statist as Bernie's, culturally, visually, he's their opposite.

Let's not anybody pretend that this is not something the left has had coming. Virtually everything the modern left has done in the last decade or so - every policy they've supported, every decision they've made, down to the smallest detail - has had a "fuck you" towards the right in it somewhere. Example: most leftists don't actually care about gay people - they only champion gay rights because it pisses off the right. Same goes for feminism or racial politics. Leftists support these causes primarily to say "fuck you" to the right.

The grassroots right has behaved the same way towards the left for a good while - consider their position on guns, for example - but the Republican party establishment has somewhat refrained from this until now. They're only now getting in on the action and that's what Trump represents, and why he's getting more support than a Republican candidate has gotten in a decade. Every Trump supporter is voting for him because he's the first Republican candidate to say "fuck you" right back to the Democrats. And this is the ultimate end of our political system, as it was always destined to be.
>>
>>26380177
you seem to have misunderstood presidential campaigns from the get-go. all it's about is telling your constituents exactly what they want to hear and looking like a badass/hero/cool guy while doing it.
>>
>>26380754
Yaaay, real life culture wars.

Just what I wanted.

I mean, europe is probably going to disintegrate within the decade, which will likely result in another world war (america boasts a lot, but Europe is the true homicidal maniac putting on a nice act of intellectualism and social conscience). Since we have a lot of nuclear countries, this would probably end in mutual nuclear annihilation by 2030.

But at least we'll have funny shenanigans live from the US in our newsfeed in the meantime, so we won't get boted in the trenches.
>>
>>26380754
>Example: most leftists don't actually care about gay people - they only champion gay rights because it pisses off the right.
Do you really believe this? This is the ideological nonsense that made so many enemies out of old friends because everything has to be a partisan thing now, and the Republican congress is possibly the the best (worst) example of this in recent memory.

You're right about the "Fuck you" thing, though, that's a very appealing thing to many people.

It seems to me that americans are legitimately going to vote for Trump just because they are growing up in this ridiculous, absurd cultural wars environment, and he is the guy that has no tact and just says what's on his mind which makes him fun and trollish.

Then this unhinged person is going to helm a nuclear power, while global capitalism remains fragile and european and russian military forces are waging a war in the middle east.

Boy, you thought Dubya messed up? You haven't seen anything yet. The americans are going to cause unthinkable damage and it's all going to start as a literal joke.

The world's end will literally be the punchline to a bad joke.
>>
>>26380177
You sound like you know what you are talking about, but you actually don't.

The average white German has a better economic future than the average white American.
>>
>>26381190
Nah, we will work with Russia, hopefully pulling back from Nato. Pull back from Korea and Japan. Let them all fend for themselves. We are pulling back our legions to defend Italia.
>>
>>26380177
His appeal is that Americans are sick of the fucking establishment. America is a fucking laughing stock and we've done nothing to try and fix that. Trump promises to restore our position as best country in the world.
>>
>>26381288
The average white german remains in a state of wage-restraint that has been going on for ~20 years. This means their real wages have been falling for those 20 years while their relative wages have been plumetting even faster. Meanwhile their net surplus within a suboptimal currency area with no floating exchange rates has destabilised the entire currency area.
>>
>>26381190
I'm still waiting for him to say "Just kidding, buy my new book" and bow out of the race.
I don't see why a billionaire for go for a weaker position of power. He's getting all the exposure he needs but I don't think he really wants such a stressful job.
>>
>>26381320
>America is a fucking laughing stock and we've done nothing to try and fix that.

Basically, you have been a laughingstock just for the time period when you fucked up and Europe hadn't had any problems. The moment something bad happened in europe the european narrative collapsed. You stopped being a laughingstock because we became laughable to an equivalent extent.

That being said, it's amusing that you think the US will be taken more seriously under a Trump presidency. If nothing else it's going to make you a laughingstock again, at least to us.
>>
>>26380177
His appeal isn't in how articulate he is. It's that he:
>isn't a politician, and is instead a competent, self-made businessman
>doesn't give in to political correctness, BLM, or feminists
>offers obvious solutions to problems nobody wants to talk about
>stands staunchly against the globalism that's killing the US job market
>funds himself and can't be bought, like the other candidates
>is trying to correct america's sinking position in the world economically
>>
>>26381433
>stands staunchly against the globalism that's killing the US job market

This is the most important thing. If we are already being fucked by globalism so bad, then lets go on overdrive. Tariffs on goods and services entering on our country from those that cheat, Tariffs on our goods going to others as punitive.

If mexico wont help control and patrol the border, then we renegotiate a new NAFTA
>>
>>26381409
Honestly, most young people realize you dont like the USA. Hopefully the chance exists where we can pull out of European affairs, pull out of all these places. Let China bully around Vietnam, South Korea, Japan. Let Russia push westward. We should just defend ourselves as best we can. If your iphone doubles in cost next year, fuck it
>>
>>26381534
His business is global; he hires illegal laborers and somehow I doubt he doesn't use tax shelters like every other filthy rich billionaire. I'll never understand how anyone can see him as anti-establishment when he is more powerful than the vast majority of politicians.

>>26381647
Yeah, a return to isolationalism would be nice. We'll save a shitload of money with it, too, which can be used to repair our crumbling infrastructure and the ticking time bomb of social security.
