Theres no stakes theres no character arcs, theres no plot points or romance arcs, no villain, no mcguffin. Just interchangeable groups of dudes running back and forth on a field 12 seconds at a time for 2 hours. Its like watching an automated rts. You can just skip the game and look at scores and get as much information out of it.

The only thing missing is romance, which is usually shit in tv shows anyway. The villain is the dickhead team, the rival team, the all powerful team that the underdog fights hard to defeat.
The only reason you don't see those things is because you simply don't look.
