It's really bad.
The writing is just....fuck I don't know. It's idiotic.
It sounds like it was written by an autistic child.
Convoluted plot with too much stupid shit going on.
Graphical style looks like ass.
No gameplay worth talking about.
It doesn't surprise me that people like LiS though considering plenty of adults watch Steven Universe.

It really is Tumblr: The Game minus the SJW stuff.
That sort of stuff was surprisingly absent.
The final episode ruined the entire series for me due to the dogshit ending.
Was a 7/10 before then and the ending made it a 2/10

I've played it. A very good comfy game if you can get over the cringey dialogue. Easy to get invested with the characters and their personalities. I also like all the references to Twin Peaks and The Butterfly Effect.

The writing is bad in small parts, cringy dialogue here and there buts thats about it. Almost all of it throughout the entire game (excluding ep 5) is amazing. It never hangs and there are some amazing moments in the game being driven straight from the writing. E.g. Beginning of episode 4.
It does however go in a downwards spiral in Episode 5. The final convo between Max and Chloe is great but thats it.

Life is Strange is pretty fucking awful.
You pretty much just walk around clicking random shit, and Max tells you why X makes her feel sad. "These beached whales make me so sad," "this jar of vacation money makes me feel sad," "this photo of my friend makes me feel sad," "this graffiti about slut girl makes me feel sad." Christ.
And the "puzzles" if you can even call them that are easy as shit. You really only have one mechanic: rewind, and you use it to solve every "puzzle." Oh no, what do I do? Rewind. Every fucking time.
And the ending is Mass Effect 3 levels of awful. After all this shit you pick to save Chloe or the town, and neither decision matters. It's such a fucking cop out, you choose to save Chloe and they just drive through the town with nary a dead body in sight. Way to completely gloss over the consequences of your actions.
And that's ignoring all the "almost raped" bullshit and all the microaggressions towards white men and all their unchecked privilege.

The things they say and do are what almost all teenagers do today. Tumblr is basically made up of teenagers. It's not surprising that they love it.
There are a few moments that make me cringe, like any sort of interaction with the Stella chick, but other than that, everything was pretty solid. Even the "shaka brah" line.

I'm speaking in terms of drawing inspirations from real people/experiences etc. Not copy and pasting. The disclaimer appears in a shitload of games for obvious legal reasons. If it didn't anyone could claim they stole the idea for a character from them and sue.
