Well good thing I'm in a competitive field. It may be legal but doesn't allow a company to literally apply the tax to the base and cost it to you. For example if you made minimum wage, it couldn't be depressed further by a payroll tax handoff. Companies would hand off costs (completely legal) by depressing wages, a job that usually posts for $20/h now is posted for $15/h. Combined with a high minimum wage, the under median wage worker would see a pay raise.

i like what that graph is trying to say but it needs to change so the y axis is actual taxable income, not a percentage figure. Doing this will illustrate the enormous income difference in America and show that the bottom 75% might as well pay no tax considering how much tax should (in theory) be paid by the top.
