I think videogames have more potential for narrative complexity. A movie needs to wrap up in maybe 3 or 4 hours but a game can easily take a whole day to complete
Video games have potential but the best games are nowhere near as good as the best movies.
Comparing something like The Great Beauty to literally video game is just hilarious.

Movies might tell a better story, but you're passive. You can pretty much shut down your higher thinking when viewing a movie.
Video games directly engage you, however. You're more involved in the story than you can be with any movie.

OP here. You could give examples and talk about the potential of both mediums. The posing question I made is open to interpretation. Just say what you want about both mediums.
Video games have more potential but are actually just complete fucking garbage on the same tier as anime and super hero movies.
The reasons are simple:
>The people who work on them are manchildren with no taste; the stories are insultingly bad. In fact, a lot of video games that get praised for their story actually have some of the dumbest ones in the entire medium (see: metal gear, mass effect, final fantasy, japanese RPGs in general), so the consumers, "gamers", also have awful taste.
>Gameplay is incredibly limited by our current technology. You are not the "main character" in a video game no matter how much you want to believe it. There's no freedom, you can only do a limited set of moves and the AI reacts in a limited pre-determined way.
Film is an established medium with a lot of history, it's only natural that it has higher standards.

No really comparable but I think movies are better. Movies and TV shows have given me more feels than vidya.

Movies are better for sheer artistic value, creative cinematography can portray moods and ideas better than video game play can.
Vidya is better as self insertion is stronger, allowing a person to be more morally invested, such as TLOU. Also some games have the potential to have variable story's or endings based on the players decisions, such as FO:NV or undertale.
It all depends what your looking for.
