The Chicken is the decedent of the Tyrannosaurus Rex
Let me understand, you got the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So, who's having sex with the hen?

The mitochondria was once a separate organism.

Chickens are terrifying. Can you imagine if this guy was 20 feet tall and wanted to eat you?
>>26254683
Shrek pls
>>26257097
I like to think about this. Like the mitochondria was once a living thing. Now it's an organelle. We don't generally consider organelles alive, but with a little change, and freed from its Eukaryote prison it could be 'alive' again.

I got kicked in the knee by a pissed off cock when i was about 10, my cousin apparently ran after the hens for the lulz and the cock then ran towards me out of nowhere, jumped and kicked his sharp footnail right into my knee. I swear to god there was so much blood coming out I thought i was dying.

>>26257222 I believe you. When. I visited my rich uncle in Mexico I stupidly went into a large cage where unbeknownst to me he kept the alpha rooster. Out of like 70 caged up in a field right in front. Tl Dr it attacked me and it felt like I was getting punched and scratched. They are surprisingly strong. Shit was scary but when I walked onto an emu farm in central ca. That was scarier I'll never forget the sound of them running towards me surrounding me and making that sound with their throat
Holy fuck that was some fight or flight shit
Fun fact: you have never seen a model or a picture of the solar system that accurately both shows the relative sizes of the planets and the sun as well as showing the orbits of the planets and their relative distance from the sun.
>>26254591
No it isn't.
Birds split from dinosaurs at a much earlier point than when T.Rex was around.
They aren't closely related at all, or at least no more closely related than any other living bird is with T.Rex.

fun fact 3
>> there are 20,000 known species of bees
>>26257659
Thats unBEElievable
>>26257623
No, I'm not, because I'm right.
Go ahead and explain how I'm wrong without a silly meme image.
Chickens do not directly descend from any dinosaur from the Cretaceous period. To find a common ancestor that links Chickens and the T.Rex you'd probably have to go back to the late Triassic or early Jurassic.
So OP's fact is false.
>>26257429
Also fun fact, the part of the solar system where the planets are is tiny compared to how big the whole solar system is
For (possible outdated) reference, Pluto is 30 AU (distance between earth and sun) away, while the solar system is estimated to reach more than 100,000 AU
fun fact 4 last one of the night for me
>> As of November 2015 there are at least 45,700 different species of spider
>>26257783
And 95 % are perfectly harmless and should be considered Bros. The dangerous ones aren't ones you usually find either unless you live in Australia for example. More people should open their eyes to how good us spiders are and welcome them in their homes to catch insects etc. Don't just fucking kill them. Welcome them!

I'm a completely unrelated poster but I've always thought actually knowing the differences between the periods (cretacious, Triassic, Jurassic) seemed neat but I'm kinda awful at getting around to/reading things. Is there a tldr you'd want to give?

Go big or go home
>>26257974
Of course I'll give you a brief rundown of the periods and what Dinos were around at that time. But I'm not expert myself honestly.
Triassic - The first Dinosaurs evolved during this period. They were not the dominant species by any stretch of the imagination at this point. There were still many other types of large reptiles and mammal like reptiles in compettion with them.
There really aren't that many "iconic" Dinosaurs from this period but the most famous ones would probably be Herrerasaurus (One of the earliest bipedal carnivores) and Plateosaurus (The first large plant eating dinosaur).
Jurassic - The period where Dinosaurs were at their most prominent. The majority of the long necked Sauropods like Brachiosaurus and Diplodicus were around during this time along with predators like Allosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus
The split between Dinosaurs and birds likely happened around this point as small bipedal Dinosaurs developed feathers. One of the first known species of birds is called Archaeopteryx.
This is also the period where the Marine Reptiles and Pterasaurs evolved, but they are not considered Dinosaurs.
Cretaceous - The Dinosaurs had declined by this point for reasons not fully understood. Even before the Asteroid hit and wiped them all out, most of the giant plant eaters had gone.
The Cretaceous was the period of the giant Theropod though. Like T.Rex, Tarbosaurus, and Spinosaurus.
The Ceratopsids like Styracosaurus and Triceratops are also from this period.
Then the Asteroid hit and all of the large land dwelling Dinosaurs died. There is fossil evidence to suggest that some may have survived the initial effects of the impact but died later.
