Shit. Everyone in my family wears glasses.
>>
Don't know if it's the same measurements in the whole world but here but I have -7.75 and -8.75.
And that thing that makes you see straight lines bendy, don't know the name in english.

Needless to say I long for my eyesight to stabilise. I've been told it's between 20 p and 25 years old, so hopefully, at worst in 5 years I can say goodbye to those shit eyes.

If I want to look good I can wear lenses though. It's just crazy how everyone starts complimenting me as soon as I put contact lenses. I should do it more often.

-9.something in each eye, plus astigmatism, stretched retina with some kind of spot on one of them, and blepharitis. And partial red-green color blindness.

I have -12 diopters in both eyes.

My glasses are -10. I need new ones badly.

My eyes hurt all the time.

Sun glare and lights are 5 times brighter than they used to be.

I constantly want to spoon my eyes out.

I`m waiting for LASIK and rest of that crap to improve - aiming for 2025 operation when the failure rate (side effects or fuckups) is close to 0.01%.

It`s just too high right now.

They actually have implantable contact lenses now, unlike LASIK they don't cut any flaps or remove any tissue and it's totally reversible.

My dad had one...10-12 years ago, so when it was in its early stage, his sight is starting to degrade again, but at least hewas reimbursed by his healthcare, and even it was not that expensive.

Pretty sure it's safe now.

Some people have to get their LASIK readjusted every ten years or so. As for me, I'm legally blind without my glasses and ca't see past my fingers. I'm myopic, have astigmatism, am. Sensotive to light, have horrible depth perception, and to top it all off have a slightly lazy eye. Meanwhile my parents didn't have to wear glasses until they were well into adulthood. Fuck me.
>>
>>26133237
Could you please give us you photo?
>>
>>26133516
Oh and I stared into the sun as a kid despite my children's astronomy book explicitly warning me not to.
>>
When I put my glasses on I'm practically a normie, I literally could look people in the eye and such. Without my glasses I'm fucking blind af and I can't do anything. I'm better off than some of you though.

When I asked my parents for help with getting LASIK they told me to fucking pay for it myself in the future.
>>
>>26133516
Well that sucks.
At least I know it's a family thing. Everyone has glasses in my family, but I'm the only one with my dad with such a bad eyesight. Sisters and mother are either age or reading and computer screens.

wearing glasses is real fuckin nightmare
>always get dirty of dust, rain, snow w/e
>glasses do not cover whole eye-vision (aka field-of-view) so i need to turn my head like retard up/down/right/left
>cant use headphones over ear because for longer period of time because ears start to hurt
>start sweating, sweat gets on glasses
>start sweating, the frame that holds on ears gets wet and slippery
>expensive as fuck
>breaks easily
>left-side glass needs to be tighten up to frame constantly or else it fells out and i will have hard time finding a milimeter-sized screw and see-through glass on fucking ground (happened few times)

it was all good before i started using PC

What the fuck man? Get some proper glasses
I pay a lot, like 600 euros for a pair, but the glasse are very hard to scratch, no sweat, no reflections, never broke, it's a work of art.

And screens don't make you go from perfect eyesight to almost blind. Make you -1 or -2, -3 at worst.

-3 something or 4. I don't wear glasses except when have to read a shitton of text from a blackboard that's more than a metre away.

>>26134407
Yeah, but mine are thinned down, and that basically adds 300 euros to the price, otherwise the glass is wayyyy too thick, becase of my shitty eyesight. And astigmatism as well, so different glasses, more expensive.

Really looking forward to getting the surgery done. I'll be a different man.
>>
My eyesight is one of the few things I feel extremely fortunate about. 20/15 vision with perfect color perception. I'm an oil painter and an archer so I don't know what the fuck I would do if I had shitty vision like you poor fucks.

i have no problems with scratches, theyre scratch resistant
mine are not broke, but half-broke, its just i have to tight up the screw pretty often.
also the paint wears off for some reason.

Legally blind without glasses
Not allowed to drive
Contacts are not strong enough
Lasik place said sorry, can't help
Glasses look like double coke bottle bottoms
Had my glasses tinted red, since all you can see are my pupils and some of the iris, without the tint I look like a monster
Can read with out glasses, under a strong light, about 1 inch from my face at 48 point type
School made me learn Braille as a kid, so I can still read in bed at night
Have to carry a cane, in case I loose my glasses, I always have two pair with me, always
Work for the government, as a disabled hire, get lots of benefits and free stuff for being blind, no taxes either
Even with glasses everything is still pretty fuzzy, like a fogged window
I use a big monitor and a text reader, high contrast and a magnifier on my glasses
As you might guess, I am a 27 year old virgin, I don't even bother anymore
Women consider disabled men to be completely invisible, unless they are rich, and I am not
Not too bad really, I love music, have a great service dog

20/15

I had lasik last year. Used to be -3.0/-2.5, which isn't really too bad, but I still couldn't see without glasses.

Procedure itself took 10 minutes. Went home and went to bed. Woke up next day and was 20/20. A week later and I was 20/15. One of the best decisions of my life.

>>
>>26137618

>>
Fairly bad I'd say.

I can't read signs or decently to small sized lettering without my glasses that's more than maybe 10-15 feet away from me.
>>
Will LASIK fuck my shit up in a couple of decades desu?
>>
>>26137829

When you get to the place there are some prep tests they do. They do some of these tests weeks ago in the pre-screening, but they did them again to double check. They advise you on post op care as well. The actual procedure is like this:

>Lie down
>They put numbing drops in your eyes
>Put some thing on your eye that holds it open. This is actually the most uncomfortable part. Doesn't hurt, just uncomfortable
>Doc cuts tiny flap in your eye, you can't feel it at all because of the numbing medicine
>Stare at a little red light while the laser starts burning away. Lasts about 10 seconds. Can actually smell the burning. Again, can't feel anything
>Doc puts flap back
>Repeat for other eye
>Doc says congrats

Takes about 10-15 minutes. Vision is slightly better immediately after but its still blurry. ~2 hours later there was some irritation for me and some foreign object sensation (feels like something is in your eye), but thats normal. Went to bed like they said and woke up next morning with great vision. Went to the doctor for my followup, took the test, told me 20/20. Had to take 2 eye drops 4 times a day for a week following surgery to prevent infection and inflammation.
>>
>>26138075
sounds good
i'm afraid of something going wrong. You can't fix a fuck up with lasers so that's why I'm worried.
>>
>>26138194

Yeah I had that fear too initially. But so many people I knew personally had it done, or they knew people that had it done, and they all said it was a great decision. So I just said fuck it.

The technology is pretty good now. They do it for pilots in the military and astronauts.
>>
i wish i had bionic droid eyes

I got -1.75 on both eyes, I just bought contacts because I felt extremely awkward with glasses

I wish putting them wasnt hard as fuck
