I can see it being helpful if you have a problem. Fapping could count as an addiction if it gets in the way of more important things in life like work/family/self improvement. Even then, I would think porn addiction would be the actual problem with fapping being secondary. I'd be willing to bet that if most people just cut down their porn use, they'd stop jerking it as much.
