I just had to bury someone close to me. It got me thinking, what do you want done to your body after you die?
For a burial and graveside service of cremated remains it cost us over $3k. Burial of a body would have cost more than double that.
What about the funeral?

Seeing the outrageous cost of a burial (casket/vault/embalming) really bugged me, so i did some research on "Green burial" Basically they bury you, unembalmed, in a hand dug grave in just a pine or wicker box, or a shroud, and then instead of a tombstone you have a little GPS marker with your body so people can find you.

I think you can apply for some kind of permit with the county, but I'm sure there are fees involved. If you've got the gumption to build a bad ass mosoleum, I'm sure you can handle the legality. It sounds pretty cool.

Found a discount cremation place, pick up and cremation, with a cardboard box holder would be $400
When he died, the hospice lady signed off, I called everyone to see him, laid out on the couch under a sheet, place arrived in a minivan, backed into the garage and took him out, picked him up at 5pm, called me at 8am the next day and said he was ready
Took his cremains out of the plastic bag they were in and put them in a tie-dyed piece of cloth and tossed him off the Golden Gate Bridge one foggy morning, included a joint in the bundle and smoked one in his honor
That was it, no memorial, no funeral, no service, no $1000 obituary

In North Carolina it is, they do that every three years for unclaimed bodies. It varies by state.

Look up The Neptune Society, if you have one near you they do low cost cremations and scatterings, if not look up low cost cremations

Place in Colorado allows town residents to be burned in a funeral pyre
Norway and Sweden have a freeze dried system available, it's quick and pretty eco-friendly
Some company in the US is ready to start offering to cover bodies with spores and you become a mushroom farm
You can also donate a relative to a teaching hospital to help medical people learn about bodies, they will cremate what is left and return it to you
If the dead person was a military veteran and the family is poor there are a bunch of government and charities that help
Most funeral homes also donate basic services for families that have a child die
When I die, I will be beyond caring, so who cares, I have already pre-paid my cremation and my friends will scatter me in a bunch of my favorite National Parks

I've wantedto die unburied for a long time now To just crawl under a rock somewhere where my body can't be found and decay in peace. I don't want a burial of any sort. Luckily, there will be no one left to grieve for me and the costs of my burial will just fall on my estranged sister's shoulders. She certainly won't expend a dime more than she has to, which means no ceremony, thank god.
Just use a picture of me that looks good so that people further remember I had swagger at some points.
Other than that, meh. Whatever. I know they won't play the music I'd wanna anyway.
