It's hard to chew, my jaw clicks constantly, and I always wake up with my jaw locked. I think the surgery would be beneficial if I could get rid of all of that, but I'm afraid of surgery plus I don't want my face to look completely different

Have you had braces? You might not even need surgery. When I got braces as a teen, they put this device in my mouth that pulled my jaw forward over a series of weeks/months. I used to look like pic on the left, I look almost like the pic on the right, but not quite. Still, better than I was before, I'm sure. They did it to make my bottom teeth more aligned with my top teeth, because they were far back before.
