What I took out of it was that black had true happiness, while red was empty inside his whole life even though he did tons of fun stuff. Basically, red has a psychotic break and hallucinates that his grandson, fawn, is black and they're back in elementary. Red gets angry at fawn (black) because red has "lived his life to the fullest" but never felt fulfilled, while black seemingly is fulfilled. Red says "you don't deserve that" (true happiness)

The problem is that people have a certain way of thinking and a profound confirmation bias so that they deduce that everybody thinks the same way.
