Real talk: how do people even watch little girl moe slice-of-life anime?

I'm a pretty open minded person, I like anime, I'm willing to give everything a shot. And I've never really watched a "cute girls doing cute things" show. So I downloaded and watched Yuru Yuri since it's a pretty hot meme anime at the moment.

I had to stop after like 4 episodes. It's the audiovisual equivalent of having cotton candy stuffed in your mouth. It's so sickly sweet and sugary that it goes beyond being enjoyable. Who is the audience? Is it actual little kids? Is it otakus and weebs that no longer have tastebuds?

Its very weird indeed.
When i started to like anime, i just watched and didnt really visit /a/, so i watched k-on thinking it was a comedy.
it took me like 7 episodes to even understand what was going on, why where there no jokes? did i miss them? lost in translation?
the existence of moe shows as a concept was alien to me. It still is, but now i know it exists i guess.

>>26103590
Yuru Yuri is pretty good, but yeah, it's excessively sweet and I can understand why a lot of people don't like it. Yuyushiki is another popular series, which is also slice of life/moe but not quite as girly as Yuru Yuri.

I just like it because I like to watch cute girls doing cute things. I don't really have a better explanation than that. Moeshit and supernatural/horror animes are pretty much the only ones I watch.
>>
>>26103590
I'm an anime fan and moe is par for the course for me, but I recently went through something similar to what you went through with MLP:FiM funnily enough. It's all very comfy or can be - definitely not for everyone (people that have actually had lives worth talking about). Just let it happen.

I watch YrYr because it's a nice comfy show. It's impossible to walk away from it feeling depressed.

And it's pretty impossible to hate anyone in the show. There's a worst girl but even then you can't hate them. Characters are just too likable.

As for the art and vocals, I listen to a lot of Jpop idol groups so I'm used to girly stuff.

I find amazing the kind of behavior people can normalize
There is people who are so afraid to leave them houses the spent a decade or two not going outside and for them its totally normal
There is people who are abused everyday physically and yeah, totally normal
But anime really takes the cake, I find it surprising there is no kind of hypnotic message hidden in it

Anime may be a little strange, but it's definitely NOT stranger than spending a a decade or two without going outside.

Are you a normalfag, OP? I'm not the type to REEE at people, I only ask because if you have a girlfriend and/or many friends it probably diminishes the appeal of the cute and charming facsimile of social interactions that moe anime provides
>>
>>26103919
this

not all of us have friends and gfs or people who care about us, that's why we need cute 2d girls
>>
>>26103919
>>26103939
I literally have no friends and have never had a girlfriend. I also have a ton of social phobias.

It just didn't do anything for me. If anything, watching these characters be friends and have good times made me feel even lonelier.

i somewhat agree OP

i can appreciate cute girls doing cute things but can't imagine watching entire episodes full of it.

the closest thing i've come to being able to enjoy is nichijou, but even then my favorite character isn't one of the many cute-thing-doing cute girls, and i more enjoy it for the bizarre humor behind it.
>>
>>26104174
Haha, I'm glad you said Nichijou because I actually really like that show.

Like you said, it's more joke-based. It's basically a show of skits with a very loosely threaded plot. I much prefer that to "there's NO plot, and the humor just comes from cute interactions".
>>
>>26104167
why do you hate cute girls

Only anime I watch anymore. Can't be replicated by anything else, it's relaxing and and reassuring, etc. It's like being hugged at the end of the day.

For decent stories/serious character arcs/actual conclusions and non-retarded plot points I watch mostly western stuff now anyway. Hard to go back and watch a serious anime right after watching something like The Wire.

Basically, OP, you're a tasteless normie faggot.
>>
>>26104243
agreed

ugly, voice like nails on a chalkboard, unfunny, and throw massive piggy pig whore on top of it all
>>
>>26103590
it's the highest level of anime you can watch.

As a young boy you watch things like DBZ and One Punch Man.

Later you go on to comedies like Ping Pong Club and SZS.

Finally as an adult male you start to watch exclusively anime with cute girls as the main focus.

All the characters lack flaws and the conflicts are minor, you're never worried they will fail. It's a perfect world where everybody is happy and nice. That's why people like moeshit.

I watch it myself but I don't really pay attention to the """"""""plot"""""""" I just like the cute faces and voices. Makes me feel like I'm not alone. I call it an "ambient anime" because I just play it in the background while I snuggle my waifu pillow and take a light nap, or jack off.

Also I prefer ecchi to moe any day. Even ecchi animes have plots and complex characters. Titties and ass make it a lot more fun to watch too.

If that really is your first time and you're not trolling then Yuru Yuri is a bit overkill.
You should start with something like K-On or that one with the artist girls, forgot the name.

I'd recommend Lucky Star but it's a show that you will just not understand without being a good weeb.

I'm alright with slice of life myself, but stuff like yuru yuri is just way too over the top, I enjoyed k-on because they at least had a musical gimmick and there was at least some progressions in what happened, but yuru yuri just felt weird.
You're not wrong in finding it too sugary, its really a you love it or hate it type of style.
If you want something a lot more mellow and warm hearted, i'd highly recommend non-non biyori, its what got me enjoying anime again, cute girl life but its pretty "homely" in a countryside, think of it as fresh pie in comparison to candy if that's what you like.
>>
OP, if you need something explained to you as to why somebody likes something (in this case moe) that you don't like, you're not as open-minded as you claim.

>>
Just ease yourself into it by watching a show about cute girls doing interesting things first.

Girls Und Panzer is fantastic, it's got all the moe you could want, but also tank warfare.
>>
>>26104458
No one said it's normal. It's the antithesis of normal. We don't care to be normal. The only people that like moe are 20+ year old virgins. We don't want 3D whores and if we did we couldn't have them, so we have moe.

Watching these characters that are somewhat based on real life personality archetypes and real world setting interacting with each others in all happy and nice ways, where even their flaws are seen as just a spiky attribute of their personality under the positive light, I think it gives people hope and optimistic view of other people and their situations. And many people want to have that.
