I didn't lose mine til age 25.
I was fat and bullied as a kid then became an extreme loner in high school. It took a long time to even be able to have a normal conversation with anyone after that. Not just because of poor social skills, I just really didn't have much life experience to talk about.
I am 29 now and still don't have much self-confidence but things have gotten better. I don't always feel anxious around people and immediately want to leave. And I can at least talk to girls.
