Now, the only real skill I have is traffic operations at a TV station. The pay is crap, never goes up unless you work at one place for 20+ years and you're the only one who worked there for that period of time. These jobs make you work 50-60 hours a week minimum, and are often from like 10-10 or 10-11 daily.
I applied for marketing jobs with the experience I have, I either never get a call, or get a rejection email a few days after I apply.
On top of this, I hate this stuff. The only jobs are in the city, and it's such a long, tiring commute (2 hours). I don't make enough to live in the city, even with 4 roommates.
If I had some IT job, I would be able to have a shorter commute or move somewhere affordable because there are jobs.

So pretty much out of the hundreds of programs that a university offers, most of them will lead you nowhere. Don't even get me started on Anthropology, Psych, Sociology, History, Marketing, Literature, African Studies.
The degrees that will lead to a job still don't have an amazing earning potential and you still need to network to find a job. Once you get some job experience you'll do ok, the trouble is in getting your first job.

Apply for an entry level IT job, like helpdesk or tech support. Just add in your resume how you are a natural with computers, your friends always go to you for tech advice, etc.

I saw ones like that too anon. I applied to one saying I needed experience in the field or relevant education---and I still got the job. Just rearrange your resume so that your "skills" are at the top, and highlight your tech skills there first. If you have a college degree and you can sound computer smart in your resume, you can get an IT job.
Also, lots of companies will automatically toss out resumes that don't have certain words in them. Look at the job application, and make sure the most important words from that application are also in your resume, or their robot will toss it.

I got my entrepreneurship degree, and this shit os just a business degree (useless), with some benefits. Though, the information is helpful. Only reason I did it was because the college offered those majors the chance to set up a business directly at its main campus with assistance. Had a whole section for it and everything. Winded up becoming a self employed business owner by the end of my final year, and now I make a living getting to sit around twice a week making apps with friends, and doing anything else in between.
