Love cats. I even have a resident Lynx with cubs. I lay raw meat out about a mile away to feed them indirectly and the mother trusts me enough to come within a few feet.

Yeah for me it is the other way now, but i was like the people here some time ago.
My perspective changed when after generations of cats my family decided to help loads of dogs in need (stray dogs and the like). We get them healthy again and give them to someone who can take care of them (there's an organization that organizes it all).
At first i hated every damn animal my family adopted, but after a while I realized dogs were actually alright
Probably won't get a dog myself but they're cool I suppose, I just like cats better
