I thought the same, but so far (at least women) people believe me. Most people have a hard time talking about stalking and sexual harassment without being vague and using as little detail as possible, so you don't have to make up a complicated story. And you can always just say it's not their business or you're not up to discussing it.
Again, only women will believe you. Men usually get pretty antagonistic and hostile when make such claims (even if it's true).
