We are told that before the universe existed there was just infinite blackness, there were no stars, planets, galaxies, suns, etc.
All the mass apparently gathered into a single focus point until the pressure caused it to collapse creating an explosion that we know as "The Big Bang"
The explosion was so massive it created the universe and filled the empty infinite space of blackness with different elements and what not which created planets, stars, organisms, life, etc.
So pretty much the Big Bang created everything that is and ever will be. We are kind of getting into some really strange territory now, a lot of people will bring a religious argument into this and say that God created the universe or he intimated the "Big Bang" himself.

And then we get into the question of "Where did humans come from?" and that's where we get the story of Adam and Eve and God creating humanity but pick the planet earth? Why decide to create humans at all?
