I've watched a few videos of gameplay and boss battles. Looked up some of the characters and the general story. Some of the music is good too.
I don't like that the overworld is colorful but battles are black and white. What's the fucking point? I also hate some of the progressive themes, like the lesbian monsters. They seem forced to appeal to the SJW crowd, and those people eat it right up. It's a good marketing strategy.

The theme of Undertale was essentially to satire typical rpg's, to break the fourth wall and address the players actions and typical game mechanics through its story.
Following that you can expect the characters to be obnoxious and eccentric. The "battles" are completely up to you to handle. It all depends on your definition of fun and your empathy towards the characters.

Playing the game as the steam tag line says "the rpg where you don't have to kill anyone" or some such, is actually quite a challenge considering you are level 1 the entire game and must dodge many attacks as the game progresses. But that's not to say being a fighter is without its challenges.
It requires more skill than traditional turned based rpg's that require only menu selection.

There's a "just war" rationale for eliminating the monsters, but the game doesn't acknowledge it and just flips a table in indignation and calls you Satan.
That's what's bullshit about the game's message: it condemns conflict, but it depends on conflict for interest just like any game.

Sans is a harder fight than Ornstein and Smough. I'm not saying this to shitpost. I played Undertale and Dark Souls concurrently. I died maybe 15-20 times against Ornstein and Smough, it took me a whole day of playing to get past them. Sans took me about a week. I probably died somewhere in the 50s.
I guess this is what happens when Undertale and r9k, two of my favorite things, come together--they join together into a pile of shit.
That said, I'm impressed that people would go out of their way to hate this game. The fans may be obnoxious but the game in no way tries to push itself in your face. (i.e. no real marketing, Toby refuses to give businesses the right to license his brand, etc.)
