Go on the WorkAway website and find something there. I did nothing from the ages of 17 (dropped out of college at the start of my A-Levels) to 22. I worked some shitty job at Sainsbury's dealing with morons almost every day. You never truly despise the general public until you have to serve them on a checkout and have them speak to you like you're a piece of shit.
I hated it, I thought about killing myself literally every single day while I drank alone in my room and played videogames. A guy I know referred me to that site and I found some silly little thing in China working at a private school in a village for food and a bed.
I didn't really like children and the thought of going to a foreign country on my own was absolutely terrifying, I nearly cancelled but thought to myself "fuck it, I'm only going to kill myself if I stay here"
I originally planned to stay for a month but ended up staying a year. Absolutely loved it, I only had to work like 3 hours a day and it wasn't even work really. I would check the work and make sure they got the correct spelling and checked their pronunciation of words. We'd then play football and shit in the field and I'd wander around the nearby town and comfy spots.
I'm going back in the summer, I only came back to England for Christmas and I'm staying here a bit to get some money. I'm seriously thinking about just fucking off to China and not coming back, they are desperate for teachers, especially British people because we are the top tier and every parent there wants their kid to learn standard British English.
Anyway I've rambled on about this too much. You don't need to do teaching, that's just the example I used. You could build a fucking hut in Iceland or something if it's available on that site or a similar one. I just recommend doing something like that because it will definitely clear your head and make you feel more in control of your life.

It has lifted a huge weight off my back though, I've realised that you're never really too late to do anything and that 90% of your worries are about things you can't control. Another thing about the working abroad idea is the fact that Britain is depressing as fuck. Seriously, I'm a fairly proud Englishman but my god, the country, the people and the weather just suck the life out of you. It's no wonder we built such a large empire, we were running away from everything.

The hardest part about the working away is getting the funds for the flight. I picked China and the flights were about 700 quid but luckily I had the money from my depressing job. You don't need to go that far away though, plenty of places in Europe to fly to for like 40 quid.
I'm rambling again, I'm just posting all this for people like you and anybody else in this thread who is feeling the same way. I also hate the phrase "finding yourself" but it's true, some people do just need to find meaning and sometimes that involves leaving the country for a while, it's a shame basic bitches have ruined that phrase. The very last thing people in these threads should be worrying about is university or college, it's not as important as you may think.

Surprisingly easy. You message the host and tell them you're interested and tell them when you're thinking about going. They'll message you back and you just go from there. You can ask them questions and stuff, it's no different to arranging a meeting with a family member or friend somewhere.
It's a little daunting because it's in a foreign country but if you look at some of the reviews on these sites you can see that it's very easy.

Officially they say you need a degree to get a full time paying job in China but it's China so it's total bullshit, there are so many ways around it. Again, I refer back to the "be white" point, it's your free pass. Japan and Korea are more strict though.
You don't need any qualifications for volunteering though unless they specifically say on the page. You don't need a work visa to do any of the stuff on the WorkAway site unless you want to get a paying job obviously. The host takes care of the visa for you and it can always be extended while you're there.

Again, entirely depends on what you want to do. I spent the first couple of weeks in China not really speaking to anyone. Since the "work" was in the evening, I would just go for walks around the village and hop on the bus to town which cost the equivalent of 20 pence. Eventually I started speaking to others there and really opened up. I'm not a very social person but since they were from other countries it felt much more comfortable to me. People want to actually hear what you have to say since you're from Britain and the same goes for them, lots of great stories.

Haven't decided yet. It won't be for a few years once I save up enough money and it will depend on economies and job prospects at the time. Portugal is near the top of the list, as well as Gibraltar/Costa Del Sol. I might be moving to Amsterdam next year for a bit so i'll see if that is any good but I doubt it'd be a long term plan as I want somewhere cheap and warm.
Outside of cheap and warm I've always thought about moving somewhere cold and remote like Iceland, Greenland or Alaska because my dream is just to live in the countryside and be left alone. But that is very unrealistic

Yeah I went there with my parents when I was 16. We went to portugal then drove to spain and then onto gibraltar.
Maybe it could have changed by now but I doubt it. The people there were the same sort of people you'd find in Ibiza, Benidorm, Magaluf etc. Trashy cunts and the place just felt dirty. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Went swimming in the river, went on walks around the place, visited the nearby town which is great because it's kinda touristy so pretty much everyone speaks english, bike rides, drank with the other volunteers there, wrote a bit.
I felt much more confident there. I was "The Brit" instead of "Autismo number 664456" like in the UK. Speaking to foreign women is easy since they actually want to hear what you have to say. The hosts are cool too, I'd help them out with stuff if I couldn't be bothered to go to town.
It's not for everyone but for me it was far better than my life in England. I'd much rather be bored over there than bored over here.
