Hey OP, I hope you're not sick anymore, and that sharing this with us helped. Even if you're just finding it amusing to watch us all fight with each other over how we feel about your way of talking with this person.
Sometimes it's hard, and a lot of people, male and female just end up really boring and selfish, even if they do feel like they're caring.
