If you took the cash option and invested it all you would make $3,000,000 a year with a 1% interest rate.

Holy shit

Somebody's gotta win.

Dumbfucks win millions in lotteries every day
>>
>>25548589
Literally this. I'd have my initial spending spree of less than $10 million, then invest the rest and live off of the returns and interest.
>>
>>25548466
I would get setup with some courses, listen to consultants, and make hires to start first stages of a charitable foundation for robots/channers/neets. (In addition to whatever sudden wealth paperwork one does.)

Something focusing on social aspects. Alienation is a key problem. Maybe communal living with care available and lots of vocational testing and training. Lots of you are brilliant and talented and you don't even know. Lots of robots are stuck in ruts. With this I could pluck them out and put them somewhere comfy and healthy.

Of course I am a 31 year old relapsed neet typing this from his mom's couch. And I didn't buy a ticket.

The human brain can't comprehend the absurd statistical improbability of winning, and is overriden by motivation as a result of imagining what one could spend the money on.

It's no worse than spending your money on entertainment. I can go to a theater and spend $15 on a movie ticket and some popcorn or I can buy a few lotto tickets a year for the thrill of potentially winning

If you treat it like entertainment instead of an investment, then it's not a stupid thing to buy

Stupid people blow through their lotto winnings very easily

>Buy a bunch of extravagant shit right away
>All your friends and acquaintances come out of the woodwork to beg for money

It's surprisingly easy to blow through lotto winnings if you're a total dumbass and you're not careful.

Step 1 to being a lotto winner: Tell NO ONE except a lawyer and an accountant

>>
>>25549004
thats not after taxes, the $500 million payout is if you take the annuity payments option which is spread out over 30 years ($16.7 million a year), or you take it in one big check for $306 million. THEN you get taxed, usually around 40% of that, some states lower and some shitholes way higher. if you lived in LA or NYC you'll get taxed over 50% of your winnings.

ATTENTION R9K AUTISTIC KEKOLDS

This thread is being culturally enriched by /pol/

Gambling, especially the lottery, is a degenerate behavior for poorfags/betas/wagecucks/shitskins who think they will get lots of money for doing nothing because they are lazy little fucks. Little do they know that most of the sale of their ticket goes is converted into shekels and wired directly to the kikes to fund their global jewry. Either redpill yourself on the workings of the world or continue to be shilled as fuck.

>muh lottery ticket
>muh welfare

Hope you enjoyed your enrichment.

God damn, I always assumed the $300 million number came from taxes. They really shaft you on this whole lottery thing. Suddenly $500 million becomes almost $100 million

Some states have laws where you can choose to remain anonymous, and in others you have to disclose your lottery winnings publicly.

>Piece of paper worth $0.001 and false hope

Okay I've thought about this shit alot:

1. Buy a large amount of land in the middle of nowhere which i'll live on for some portion of the year

2. Buy a large estate with its own private lake which is where I'll live (I'll also bring my bros to live with me rent free)

3. Buy a fuckton of nice cars, classic cars are the shit

4. Fuck bitches on a daily basis (hookers, whores, whoever)

5. Buy a small run down house for when I want to pretend to be poor and normal

6. Hire a personal trainer and a chef who cooks all my meals so I'm /fit/ and can work out daily in my home gym

7. Travel the world frequently

8. Give my family a large amount of money

9. Fund projects I like I'd even randomly give a few dead in the eyes strangers or homesless like 10-20k each

9. Save the rest

All in all it would probably only cost like 20 mil for all of the above so I'd have a huge amount left
>>
>>25549141
nope, sorry retard. you mean to say, "the state government," after working 12 hours a day in addition to buying a new car, good clothes they end up donating, paying for college, and doing a wide diversity of things that help stimulate the economy that you would never know about because all of your interactions with the inner city is through image macros and, i'm going to say the drudge report.
>>
>>25549142
thats why alot of people are able to burn through their winnings so fast, they may have won a big check that says $100 million on it but it only turns out to be ~$35 million cash which isnt hard to burn through after 5 years of living nigger rich surrounded by your nigger rich hang-ons.
>>
>>25549166
This seems pretty fucked up. You should definitely be able to remain anonymous

I was watching a documentary on lotto winners and this one guy said he had received close to 1000 letters from strangers begging him for money; all because he was forced to shed his anonymity
>>
>>25549087
Why wouldn't you take the annuity if you get the full amount?

16 mil a year is still huge

So what is the smarter option?

Lump sum or yearly payments?

I say lump sum because you can invest
>>
>>25549294
because humans are simple creatures and 306 is bigger than 16.7.
>>
>>25549173
Do you even know the meaning of degenerate? Spending $2 on a piece of paper does not qualify friend.

Not to mention, you make it seem like you've never spent $2 on something you didn't need. How many times have you purchased a candy bar from a vending machine anon? You fucking filthy degenerate.
>>
>>25549294

>>25548843
When my state lotto went something like 2 years without anyone winning the jackpot. They would take 50% of the ticket sales for each drawing and add it to the next jackpot if no one one. Eventually it got to the point where tickets cost $1 and paid out more than $1 if you took all the odds and all the different payouts after tax and lump sum deduction (which you take if you aren't a complete retard). I think it peaked around $1.50 payout per $1.00 ticket before someone won the jackpot. I started spending $5 per week on tickets once it reached around $1.20. I wish it were possible to buy tickets in bulk. I'd convince some incredibly rich guy to lend me $15,000,000, buy every ticket possible, and make it my job to cash in those lottery tickets. Split the earnings with the guy and he'd make $5 million in a day.
>>
>>25549306
biggest problem with annuities is that the money depreciates over the years due to inflation, a millions dollars a year isnt what it was 25 years ago and will be worth even less 25 years from now.

if you can properly invest the lump sum payment you can make up for the difference in time, but that requires you to be competent and not throw all the money away in the first couple of years.

>>
>>25549352
Sure, but that amount isn't exactly pocket change, you can still make some money with investing that. Plus you don't have the risk of losing all your money at once because you know you have a decent amount of cash guaranteed coming in the next year.

I guess it's just about different priorities. With that amount of cash i wouldn't worry too much about making more, you're already set for life.
>>
Actually even if the odds are in your favor it's irrational to spend money buying a lottery ticket.

If you're average/poor, 5$ means a lot more to you than the difference between $500mil and $600mil, in the statistically insignificant chance that you'd win.

Opportunity cost.
