Believe it or not there are ways to bend others to your will. Its not occult or even measurable but if you train yourself to act in a magnetic and assertive manner people will tend to defer to your presence. They will grow used to you, they'll want you around, and they'll like you as a result. Either that or they'll pretend to like you just to keep you around.
