I remember something similar.
I've posted several threads on /k/ only to get few responses or made fun of, but when I posed as a Russian making fun of the West over a (then) recent military incident, I got a hundred responses.

It was a sort of Nostalgia thread. About how cities like Liverpool and Sheffield used to be some of the greatest cities in the world,
Liverpool has a reputation as basically the worst, most run down city in England, and it's basically true, but just 150 years ago it was perhaps the wealthiest city in the world. So many institutions and inventions were pioneered in Liverpool.
The first train station linked Manchester with Liverpool, the first public sewer system since Roman times was in Liverpool

Now it's just a shithole where there is mass unemployment and crime, it's a nothing city, but it fell from such great heights.

Much like New York.
Thankfully, I don't live in such a region.
Also, I thought London held that reputation.
Hasn't England in its entirety fell from such a great height?
Was it the Anglo-Saxons that build the sewer or the Romans?
