It's alright. I used to be suicidal though so it was pretty horrible driving then because I had to fight the horrible intrusive thoughts about how I should run my car into a tree while going 60mph.
>>
>>25471778
I used to be really into it. I was well-known as one of the fastest guys on my local canyon road (which is pretty famous and had a big group of "competitors"). I drove a bugeye WRX at the time.

People started throwing tons of money at really fast cars, though, and started taking so many risks that I stopped being able to keep up with the fast end of the pack, and that kind of gave a sour taste to running that road.

I also had a minor crash, nothing serious but it really fucked up my confidence, now it's always in the back of my mind when I go for a canyon run, especially in a group of fast people.

I still enjoy fast cruising on my own, though. I currently have a Fiesta ST and an S2000, and pic related is the next car I want to buy, I drove one of my favorite road and absolutely fell in love with it.

I like it. Have an RX-8 but don't track it or anything, it's just a bit of fun and also a socially acceptable way to find some solitude.

A few years ago I would've told you I really want to own a GT-R someday but now it just seems too expensive unless I get surprisingly successful in the future

>>
>>25472448

I swear we have more asshole drivers than anyone here

Normiebook seems to suggest everyone thinks they're F1-tier and everybody else is a fucking retarded faggot who shouldn't be driving

You have no idea what I've seen people do JUST to pull up to the same red light at me at the same time.

It's like the whole country is running extremely late and are going to be executed on sight if they're late at their destination
>>
>>25472440
>Sounds like you stopped in the right lane with no right hand turn lane, with no one on the left, impeding him from turning right on red, like a fucking asshole.

No, you're part of the problem. If the lane is used to go forward as well, he has every right to be in it. Maybe he has a stop on the right hand side durther down and doesn't want to be trapped in the left lane.

He has every right to be at the red light in the right hand lane in that case, and you sir, can go fuck yourself or leave a bit earlier to avoid being butthurt
>>
>>25472492
My friend who has never been in an accident went to Canada and within 5 hours of being there he got sideswiped by some asshole kek
>>
>>25472014
They're fun, but the Miata has a lot of merits as well. The S2000 is a much higher stress car to drive, not only because it's less stable and faster but because it's hard not to forget about how its value is inflating now and crashing it would mean losing a pretty big chunk of change.

I've been thinking about a Miata to fuck around with, actually.

>>25472111
RX-8s are fun cars as well, they're really under appreciated thanks to issues that they pretty much fixed after the first year.

>>25472166
This is by far the thing that pisses me off the most about driving. I'm a trained and licensed race driver, in a sports car, I trust my own judgement about when it's safe to make a move a hell of a lot more than some dipshit who can't even see what's going on up ahead.

I got flipped out on by some guy a few weeks ago because I made him wait an extra 30 seconds to make a left turn instead of popping out into tiny gaps between cars that would have forced the cars going straight to slam on their brakes in the middle of the intersection when they had right of way.

Another guy was honking his ass off at me a few days, also for not making a left turn, when there was a pedestrian in the middle of the crosswalk and I would have had to run him over to go.

>>25472311
The F-Type is gorgeous, I'm in LA and surprised I don't see more of them around.
>>
wow just talking about driving is pissing me off
>>
>>25472386
people seem to forget they are driving 2,000 pound death machines. they have no awareness.

i've driven for 13 years and have never been in an accident other than hitting a curb after hitting ice. every single person i know has a few major car crashes under their belt. it's just amazing to me. how fucking unaware do you have to be to get in a car accident? i dont get it
>>
>>25472440
Nope, two lane road, "no turn on red" sign at the intersection.
>>
>>25472605
people around me never pay attention to the no turn on red signs. they will literally honk and honk at you if you don't turn.
>>
>>25472581

The part that gets me is the lack of accountability.

They're late, they get in an accident, they're speeding, they run stop signs, red lights, etc... and it's societies fault for being shit drivers, cops fault for being assholes when you're going 30 over while texting, etc.

And then they complain when their insurance goes through the roof as if they're not a massive liability after getting into multiple accidents and receiving multiple tickets.

I shouldn't have entered this thread. I mad now

No point in having 200+ horsepower if you can barely use it on public roads anyway
>>
>>25472742
i should correct myself

some accidents are unavoidable, shit just happens and you can't do anything. i once went down a hill and hit ice and slide into the middle of a main road. if there was a car coming i would have been fucked.

but with that said, i'd say like 80% of car accidents are completely avoidable if people were actually fucking aware of their surroundings.

Bro. I know this feeling. I have several spots picked out that I can hit. The best one is a guard rail before a bridge on my side of the road. There's a hulk behind me for speed with enough road to crash the driver's side straight into it. With enough speed, the car should also spin out down to the river.

Haven't found a better spot, and its hard to pass it. One reason I don't get up to my parent's house often.

I passed mine the first time too, but mine was bizarrely easy and the guy was this rasta dude who didn't give a fuck. I'd been driving a ton on a permit with my parents already, I pretty much drove any time I went anywhere with them, so I was used to it. The test was basically just a drive around the block, he had me make a few left and right turns and go through some stop signs (I actually jumped one while talking to him, and he said "oh, I distracted you, that was my fault"), didn't even have to parallel park, and got signed right off.
>>
>>25473456
Mine was similar. Black dude just made me take a few extra turns after I ran over a curb instead of DQing me. Said "oh, yeah, I can tell you were just nervous." Probably helped that I was 20 at the time.

there's a couple of dream cars I have, but I've never drove any of them so I wouldn't know which one I'd prefer...
other cars I'd want: datsun skyline kpgc10, datsun 510, rally hothatch like peugot 205 or lancia delta s4 and an ae86. only because of initial d

still though if I'd pick one it'd be rx-7. has rotary sound, looks and the car is decent.

Can't really say it's entirely a dream car because I have a car that is almost identical, but I currently have it in a body shop. So can't really post a pic of my car.

Also driving is really relaxing but I used to enjoy going on a ride as a kid better. Just sit in the back seat and stare out, having nothing to worry about. Then you'd eventually just fall asleep. Pretty comfy man.

Your *dream car* is a Subie hatchback? Not saying they're not peppy and fun, I drove one all up and down the West Coast, but dude there's so much better out there.

Personally speed isn't really my thing, if I could pick any dream car it would be something off-road and small. Big trucks just can't go to a lot of places smaller ones can, sure they can climb over bigger rocks and make more impressive videos but they can't squeeze between a lot of places and you'll look like a major douche just destroying the trail as you go.

I currently drive an '86 Toyota truck, it's pretty close to dreamtruck status. If I had money, I'd get an 80s Cherokee or something and just modify it to be exactly what I want (4.0 engine, of course). Cut up the body so it looks like a four-door Wrangler with a ragtop, 4-6 inches lift, brushguards and a winch, aside from the body mods it's all pretty vanilla I guess.

I'd also love a camper rig, something like an early-90's Dodge camper van jacked up about a foot. Generator mounted on the back, shower stall with maybe a 20-30gal tank, solar on the roof, stovetop and mattress, something I could legit live in full-time. I'd even think a single-seater would be cool, no passenger seat, just the driver seat and then full living quarters inside, like a full-size RV.

>Driving mom's 2012 Buick Regal Turbo instead of my slowpoke 2002 Acura MDX for whatever reason
>Two lane country road
>Sunny and no other cars

Kept the foot down until I chickened out somewhere around 125 mph. I really want to do it again but I'm in college now without a car and I only think I've hit triple digits a couple of times since.

I always liked driving, but recently I've been browsing /o/, learning stickshift, watching Initial D/Top Gear/Motortrend/etc and I'm actually becoming obsessed with cars.

The automatic Cobalt I used to feel content with is no longer enough. Now that it's legal to import to Canada, I desperately want an Evo VII. I'm joining the Air Force soon, which will give me lots of disposable, and hopefully I'll get to work at Comox BC which has a new motorsport circuit and some touge roads. I'm having fun pulling hektik skids in my shitbox on icy roads in the meantime.

Yeah, I like driving a lot.

Supercars are boring normalfag dreams and are largely unattainable unless you're born into wealth.

Sporty trims of average cars are so much cooler.

i was in an accident where some kid pulled out of a parking lot through a tiny gap across two lanes of stopped traffic (i was in the third and leftmost lane). I couldn't see him because the stopped cars were blocking my view, and he hit me while looking to his *right*.

Where do I start? It's all so confusing ;_;

I dream I'll be able to fix my own damn car one day without having to pay hundreds to some damn mechanic who's probably ripping me off.

What I've done so far?

>browsing car forum or /o/, read car mag, watching car show, etc
>hear about a thing I don't understand, like "DOHC"
>hmm, I wonder what DOHC is
>go on wikipedia or look up a YT video
>learn about it, this leads into me reading about similar technologies like SOHC and OHV

Just discover things as your hear about them.
