She used to lock herself in bedroom and crying there for hours. When I decided to check on her, she screamed she's going to kill herself because of me. I was 12 years old then. She was beating me from time to time, usually slapping my face until her hands got all swollen so much she couldn't even hold a cup that evening.
I never got a simple praise from parents. Success was expected to be a matter of course and even minor failure was punished harshly (including C's in school which were quite rare because I usually got A's and B's).
I had no safe haven, no one to really talk with, to entrust myself.

Recently realized I've been in love with one of my best friend's GF, told her, she led me along right up until the end and got back together with him. I think subconsciously I've known for a long time she was the only person I've ever loved and wanted to be with, and it prevented me from doing anything wth anybody else.
