As it stands now, it's pretty poorly explained. Her being able to take down Kylo Ren is partly explainable by Ren having sustained a blaster shot to the side and getting sliced by Finn at least once, making him physically at a disadvantage. I got the feeling the whole movie he rebelled from Luke's mentorship fairly early into his training, and thus wasn't a terribly good Jedi/Sith Lord. No one in the entire movie fully trusts him with anything, the General treats him like shit, and the giant hologram boss guy treats him as through he isn't fully ready.
None of that explains her ludicrously fast force abilities though. Best they'll probably do is that she had been one of the young padawans at Luke's school and then was abandoned on Jakku, and then repressed the memories or had them surpressed to try and keep her safe, and when she was in peril she tapped into it.
