"huffing" refers to the inhalation of solvents such as petrol or paint, which is reaaaaaally bad for you and the effects of which are literaly synonymous with brain damage.

I really think there's a common link though. You can see how much mental illness has influenced things like horror movies, religion, art, etc. And psychosis is just the brain producing too much dopamine for its receptors. I've been chronicling the characters I've met in my dreams, psychosis, and through drugs, and I've found a lot of similarities and common themes.

I think it can definitely be debilitating and it can stop people from living the life they want to. That's why I think medication is a good option to have. I myself take meds, but I'm taking the lowest dose I can to live my life normally. It lets me still hallucinate when I'm lying down or closing my eyes, and it also gives me a touch of insanity to let me do my research. But there are some schizos and people with OCD who are convinced people are watching them or torturing them, and it's a very painful state to be in. John Lilly said that there are circuits in the brain that are only there for the creature's destruction, and I think that's very true, there's a lot of stuff in the brain that we're not meant to see, or that would be poisonous to see. Concepts like complete nihilism, detachment from your peers, being hunted, being convinced you're about to die. I want to see these things and see how far they'll take me, but that's my choice. People should have the option to live a normal 9-to-5 life, and it's very disappointing that for many people they're unable to do that because our meds are insufficient and cause so many side effects.
