the *blue-eyes-will-disappear-because-recessive* crowd really needs to read up on basic genetics
the more people mix up the more the blue eye allele will turn up in otherwise darker skinned people
I was fascinated when I learnt this too, but recessive genes may have an advantage over dominant genes, because a blue eyed person CANNOT carry a brown eye allele, but a brown eye person can carry recessive blue eye genes.
So theoretically dominant genes can be easier to eradicate by genetic drift fx.
This is especially true when it comes to genetic diseases, where dominant diseases are of course much rarer
