>Wake up this morning, go get healthy drinks and fruit from the store
>This is the year
>I think i'll start that music project back up
>Day slowly progresses to drinking whiskey alone and listening to the same Joy Division album on repeat.

I gave it a shot, wish I could afford meds
>>
To be fair, Joy Division is really fucking awesome. Which album?
>>
>>25428411

Unknown Pleasures

Probably do the same with Closer tomorrow
>>
>>25428443
Fuck yeah, Unknown Pleasures.

I've been on an 80s goth kick lately. I was listening to "Substance" followed by a bunch of Bauhaus and The Cure. Moving on to Christian Death.

If you listen to The Cure, try "Pornography". It's got that downtrodden feel to it that's so exhilarating.
>>
>>25428605

Thanks for being so positive anon.

Bauhaus is great as well.

Never been able to get into The Cure but I will give that album a shot.

I've been planning to turn my life around tomorrow since 2014
>>
>tell myself I'll get my life together this year
>wake up at 3 pm
>jerk off twice in a row
>wipe off hands
>walk to the liquor store
>order a pizza on the way there
>end up buying a cheesecake too
>come home, jerk off again
>drink most of what I bought, eat a whole cheesecake, the pizza, and a bag of Doritos I went out and bought
>vomit
>drink some more
>put on the same set of sad songs I always listen to
>>
>tfw start to feel good yesterday
>tfw count on it being gone by this morning
>tfw actually willing to get out of bed
>tfw back to rock bottom 12 hours later

mood swings r fun fambotz
>>
Habits are very hard to break my friend. But at least you know you have the problem. Meeting is half the battle. Now you must make small steps towards your goals. Don't attempt too big of a leap because you will risk crashing or burning out which fucking sucks. You can do it I believe in you
>>
>>25428712
Fuck yeah, Bauhaus. "The Sky's Gone Out" has got to be my favorite. That Brian Eno cover is just fantastic.

As for The Cure, a lot of people will tell you "Disintegration" is their best, but man, there's something to be said for "Pornography". It's raw. Unrefined. The bass lines are simple but driving. It's a good album to bob your head to and feel bad.

I had a music project back a while back. It was basically me, some recording equipment and a bass guitar. I made some fuckin' music and put it out on the net for funsies. Really fucking with the noise, detuning the strings, and just going absolutely bonkers with it. Ended up a few hours of completely out there harsh noise walls. It was fun. A complete misuse of talent, but absolutely fun to do. You could even hear my neighbors pounding on the wall at one point during one of the sessions.

It doesn't have to be perfect, but make it something reflective and honest. Even if you're feeling terrible, you can always make something completely out there.

You ever listen to Coil or Nurse With Wound?
>>
>>25428884

I somehow made an ep last year by myself.

Put it online, got good feedback from /mu/.

I've tried a hundred times to record something else, I always end up feeling stupid and giving up.

Listen to New Order. I, personally, like them more than Joy Division. (New Order is Joy Division after Curtis died...)
Low-Life Expanded Edition is pure gold.
>>
no mention of skinny puppy itt?
theyre more on the shouty side than moany side than the likes of the cure or joy division but if youre into them and somehow havent heard of skuppy theyre well worth checking out

recommend too dark park and mind: the perpetual intercourse

How can you BE so FUCKED?

hook me up with a mufkin link suuuuuuu
>>
Joy Division is robot essential music. I am going to see their bassist, Peter Hook in concert this year familia. What's your favourite track? Interzone or Atrocity Exhibition for me
>>
>>25428605
Disintegration is the robot album to be honest. Their first album was more rock/pop, but Disintegration is the pinnacle of loneliness.

You guys sound like me a while years back.

If keen on Joy Division check out the Peel sessions and live bootlegs.

Musicianship is a bit sloppy on some of the live recordings but they play faster and more aggressive, Curtis's vocals have a harsher almost violent quality on some of it as well.

>full peel sessions

>Live France 1979 Day of the Lords
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K29bLvLka9A

>Fuck yeah, Bauhaus. "The Sky's Gone Out" has got to be my favorite.

I particularly love Exquisite Corpse.

>As for The Cure, a lot of people will tell you "Disintegration" is their best, but man, there's something to be said for "Pornography".

Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography all fit together as a trilogy of early postpunk/gothic The Cure, disintegration is something of a departure.

Seventeen Seconds is sparse, eerie and playful, Faith is funereal and grey and Pornography is dark, manic and desperate.

I reckon its worthwhile listening to them in order.

>Seventeen Seconds (A Forest is a real standout track)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD2EVqaSJ4o
>Faith (The Drowning Man is amazing)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNipumgHpnI
>Pornography (When I was a kid I would listen to The Hanging Garden on repeat, all the songs are noteworthy though)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9RrspCGuhs

>You ever listen to Coil or Nurse With Wound?

Also check out threshold houseboys choir https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdCQKajCsas solo project from the last remaining member of Coil

What's so great about Joy Division?
>>
>>25428779
A day in the life of a fat. Fascinating.
>>
>>25432168
>Unique sound
>some of their work was baroque and introspective during a period when it was all fast rough punk or crappy neodisco
>Ian Curtis was not a man of this world
>great live
>dat production on unknown pleasures
>Ian Curtis had epilepsy, was obsessed with nazis and anheroed
>Band which helped get the legendary label Factory Records started
>>
>>25432380
I wish I got it. Maybe it's just not my thing.
>>
>>25433065
Took me a lil while to get into them.

You may prefer the peel sessions, unknown pleasures is a little bit restrained.

If not don't worry, tastes vary.

thanks anon, i've been listening to all the live JD I can find, loving every second.

Peter is a legend, that's awesome.

She's Lost Control if I had to pick, it's layered beautifully but all their stuff is really.
>>
>>25431890
>feeling depressed
>listen to stuff that makes robot feel even more depressed
Joy Division is boring angsty music for teenagers anyway. Punk is only good when you either hasn't listened to a lot of good music or isn't mentally able to digest good music. I much prefer My Bloody Valentine, far better musicianship
>>
>>25434877

>Punk is only good when

Listening to music is subjective though. It doesn't make me more depressed, a top 40 song would do that easily though.

MBV is great too.
>>
>>25434877
>>25434981
Warsaw is punky, Joy Division is post-punk with a strong krautrock influence, the rhythms on a lot of the tracks are pretty interesting and reminiscent of Neu!

Joy Division is hardly typical pubescent angst, it's not fuck authority, fuck my parents ie not Linkin Park of 1979, themes are deeper, more about the human condition and difficulty forming connections in the post-industrial world and general world weariness.

In the album closer their are some cryptic references to JGBallards short stories.
