My new year's resolution:
combating ignorance and teaching my friends one new word every week.
Week 1: Hirsute
Suggest a word for week 2 :)
Tinnabulation
nidifugous

Holy fuck that comment is so fucking cringe worthy. You should consider not wearing fedoras.

Way to spot a verbally insecure person: their idea of a difficult word is a comically long one in no normal use.
My suggestion... let's see... 'nidify'.
>>25410814
>>25410713
Whoops, wait, you used the same root! I honestly didn't notice. I just went to etymonline.com, considered a letter to choose, chose N, then chose a page at random, the word 'nidification' caught my eye, I wondered if it could be abbreviated, I learned it could, and posted it. Perhaps having seen yours influenced it, little as I believe in such subconscious influences. Anyway, I suppose this settles OP's request.
>>25410814
Just like the OP then.
>>25410845
(In fact, I think I wasn't influenced, because I have bad eyesight and I think I misread >>25410713's word as beginning with R in the first place.)
>>25410856
'Hirsute' isn't long.
>>25410871
No, but it certainly isn't something that anybody who isn't a fedora tipper would use in normal use.
>>25410887
Even disregarding the fact that hirsutism' is I believe a name of a real condition which one would use understanding, I like people who are eager to expand my vocabulary by showing me new words.
>>25410911
Or, even better, coining some; coining is just closing lexical gaps, for instance, owing to >>25410713, I now can say '/r9k/-fugous' to refer to robots who've become normies and left /r9k/.
Foible
Slough
Glissade
Glower
Coprohagous
Rill
Lecherous
Sylph
Sylvan
Lugubrious
Fuliginous
Tryst
Proffer
Doff
Words range from uncommon to rare. Use them at your own discretion :)
>>25411064
Should we really be using rare words and depreciating their value though? I feel as if we are committing a crime. These words should be preserved in pristine shape, known but unused and untainted by the common masses.

Week 2 word: "pretentiousness"
discombobulate is one I enjoy

>Coprohagous

This is common as fuck. I use and hear it at least ten times a day.
>>25410713
>tfw I've never seen that word, but I know what it means because I know some Latin
>>25410704
That's not even the right word, idiot.
>>25411410
I know but there are many uncultured philistines around. Also I just noticed I misspelled it. It's Coprophagous.
