Raising a kid is about doing something for another human, not stroking your ego.
I can see how you'd feel uncomfortable being with a woman and raising her kid from another father, because you'd feel like maybe you're the runner-up. But this isn't that. This is basically rescuing someone from a lifetime of shit that they in no way are responsible for.
It's almost like, if you had a kid of your own and they had a friend over, would you feel bad feeding them? Playing games with them? Giving them advice? They're not your kid, so you "shouldn't" be acting in a fatherly role.

Obviously there's a difference. But the main difference is time and dedication. You're just as responsible for the kid spending the night (while they're in your house) as you are your own kid.

The blatant sexism in Western views of child care / parenting is really bad, probably the worst it's ever been really. At least when women were viewed as child-raisers and nothing else, people just thought they were incompetent at male roles--not CRIMINAL. Literally like a quarter of those profiles specify either no males in the home or basically imply that the wife should be the primary caretaker.
I'm a teacher and it's really disgusting sometimes how shit upon men are. I've seen a female teacher literally kiss students in front of the class, and a different kid from that same class complained to her mom that I touched her leg and now she didn't want to be in the same room as me. Luckily both mom and the other teacher basically told her to fuck off or I'd probably still be dealing with it years later. Then there's the endless pet names (sweetheart etc) that female teachers use all the time, and any time a male teacher uses them it spawns tons of gossip and rumors.
I actually plan on adopting a child and have good chances of doing so. also it's a myth that single men can't adopt it would be illegal to deny you a child based on your gender
