Did you have an ingrown toenail?
I've been operating on my toe for probably 10 years now since I was a teen. The doctors don't really fix it and it hurts way more when they do it so I do it on my own. I use tweezers, razors, nail clippers, gauze and disinfectant. It looks disgusting now but all it takes is a hot soak every day for a few days until its soft enough and it either clears itself up or I cut the nail out. It feels great when you pull the piece of nail that's growing into your flesh. Not sure if image spoilered I tried becuase its nasty

It's an ingrown toenail. It happens in the winter when I wear socks and boots. This past summer I wore sandals everyday and it was fine

i used to amputate big freckles from my face with a scalpel and then desinfy it with clearasil, worked great
also removed a mole or w/e u call them, those brown pimples on your skin. had to apply lidocaine gel first for anesthesia

I did that few times with mine, but it kept growing back into the flesh. Eventually I went to see a podiatrist and now it's healed.
