Your standard of living will not be reduced under communism. It will be vastly improved. The idea of communism is to collectivize the means of production so as to avoid the elite extracting surplus value from your labor. Which right now is something like 9 million billion gorillion percent. After implementation, we'd realistically have to work 10 hours a week to sustain our current standard of living. And with technology, it'd continue to decline untill none is needed.
Capitalism does not allow this. Technology is only a way to make the worker more productive so as to hire less labor.
