Graphic design deserves far more than minimum wage, because it's skilled work that takes time to learn as well as a fair amount of planning and design time for any given project. A logo, website or poster can make or break a company depending on the quality of it.
But of course, because the end result is just pretty pictures, every dickhead and their kid sister thinks "it's easy, I could do that if I wanted to!".
