>all trains POS decades all diesel shitters
Those 'shitters' actually are incredibly efficient and reliable. Far more so than most automobiles, but that could also be because trains are rigorously maintained, whereas private car owners tend to be shit with taking care of their vehicle.

Aren't there tourist trains that ride about our scenic national parks and whatnot?
What is it with autistic people and trains?

this. and they're often not actually that old, they just look clunky because aesthetics are not really a priority for freight companies
Warsaw Central Railway Station.
Recurring in my dreams for years, bless it.

Railways yield themselves to modelling (networks and stations = graphs and nodes), they are supposed to run regularly (traffic optimization), and engines are classifiable with respect to models and so on. Pushes the right buttons.
If you like trains and don't post on /n/ already you need to go post about trains there to help fight the shitposting flooding of that board by cyclists.

I just like the look and sound of them desu. plus they're fun to ride, are (for myself anyway) associated with nostalgic feels, and I can be high/drunk on them comfortably

I grew up around trains and always found them interesting.
Nowadays it's something I do as a past time (watching them, taking pictures, I even have quite a few friends who do the same). I realize that it falls outside the "normal" interests of sports, fast cars (I'm actually into cars too but not as much), even planes or insects/wildlife, but whatever.

I actually never got much into the following of schedules or classifying engines. I just like the general sight and sound of a train going by. For some reason it feels special to see a train go by, because you can be located by a cold set of tracks for hours and hear/see nothing, but when a train passes you the whole world changes around you. All the noise and the feeling (you can feel the ground shaking). I just think it's great.
Why can't you fall into a woodchipper, you drunken heeb?
Feeling an E60 rumbling the ground at 90mph(144kph). Those were good times. Also visiting the model railroad shop with mom and dad. Sigh.
i wish i could be a conductor
