Dont make the mistake I did a few new years ago. I was in the exact same situation and when I got there, all the people there were douchey and since I was alone (friends were too busy talking to other people) I was singled out easily.
It left me emotionally scarred for months, don't listen to that other anon. If you have a feeling of doubt about it, there's a good reason. Trust your instincts.
