The worst part to me though is that the people who have co-opted the label use it as some system to try and get dates. You have these attractive and social guys pretending to be social outcasts mingling with these attractive and social girls pretending to be nerds and they'll talk about 4chan memes because in their mind it's cool and interesting to be part of some underground nerd subculture... which means they post on /soc/ once a week and lurk the reddit 4chan page. They're completely oblivious to their own bullshit.
Personally, this isn't a matter of "oh I suffer much more than you". It's simply a case of correctly defining and categorizing people and when these people exist... they just ruin everything.
