It was tolerable for the most part. I got dragged to it by my brother who is a huge fan even he wasn't fully satisfied. He had a few friends with and everyone after the film pointed out the Nazi rally scene and what a joke it was.

Story was a rehash, but a decent one. Not too many story related plotholes, only ones relating to characters actions and a few world history quirks.
Characters were on the whole bad. Rey was a huge mary sue, Finn had no regret for his actions and came off as too goofy, Poe and Han were great tho, and Kylo saved the film with his angsty acting.
Also, can I saw as a Robot I loved the movie? Not only was Kylo great, but JJ really showed how much he hated women throughout the whole movie. The only women in the movie were Rey who was terribly written and is a harmful "do no wrong" stereotype for women, the CGI chick who was annoying and gave off false wisdom that was ultimately wrong, Leia who goes back on all of her previous decisions )I spend 3 movies trying to make a republic, and once I get it it's too slow, so I just make a resistance anyway LOL), and my personal favourite Phasma. Phasma starts off looking intimidating, but is ultimately captured, forced to do something she doesn't want to, and then is immediately thrown in the trash.

I mean I like the movie, but I'm sick of this "perfect womyn" archetype we keep seeing.
The rehash was more than just fan service. The force is trying to bring balance to itself and failed with luke, sidious, vader, obi wan, yoda, etc. There was an additional sith that was unbalancing the force and Luke's power wasn't enough to fix it. That's why Obi Wan, Yoda, and Vader all died. Now, Kylo Ren is being seduced to the light to bring balance. Even though it's "just him and snoke" on the dark side, and Rey is clearly very strong in the force, something is fucking with that balance. Snoke has a look of fear in his eyes the whole movie. Something stronger than him is giving him orders and it's not the dark side. He fears his master as much as Ren fears his (and his lack of ability to kill him and take his place). It's been like this for a LONG time with the same powerful being ruling over the dark side. That's what would make sense to me, anyway.

One assumes that the First Order controls systems in the same way the new republic does. Think of this war like the USA (Republic) against Iraq/China whatever. The Republic can't do shit to the First Order in their own system, which is why they fund the Resistance (who are like the Muhajideen or any other rebel group the USA funds).

Dude the rebellion in the orginal knew and the plot was about stealing the plans for it. They just couldn't do anything about it because they had so few resources.
In the new movie Leia is the incumbant, with presumably far more at her disposal, and the Empire as known is gone.
Also if they had tech that can suck up stars FASTER than it can shoot lasers (it takes at least 15 minutes to shoot the laser after it charges) why not just have small vessels go around sucking up enemy stars?
