It was pretty shitty. For starters the fitbit thing I ordered my mom didn't get here in time for me to give to her for Christmas exactly, but did I feel good because I was able to buy some anons like two things in earlier threads but then I went right back to feeling shit since my older brother and his pregnant wife and their daughter came over. It just reminded me of how much of a failure I am. I just spent the whole time in my room on the computer on /r9k/ and /int/ while they talked with my mom in the living room. This time they only talked about me once which was his wife asking if I was going to spend the whole day in my room which my mom just kinda laughed it off.
Eventually they came in to give me a hug and tell me they were leaving. I think my Grandma and my Auntie will give me $5 or $10 so hopefully that's enough to buy some kind of cheap liquor not sure since I don't drink but I really want to forget this day.
I've only ever played GTA 3 and San Andreas. Sorry for the wall of text, I just lost track of what I was typing.

Yeah but it's hard. I'm just really shit at talking to people and being around people in general. I just can't help but feel like literally everyone is better than me. It's hard to feel good about yourself when your life is shit. I can tell myself I'll try to get better and pump myself up in 2016 but I know that'll probably last for a day or two and then just fizzle out like those people that sign up for gym memberships.

Just try it, try it every day for a week. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you're awesome, you're just as good as anyone else, you're just as capable.

To be fair nothing really matters in life, there's no point in anything. But escapism is what makes it tolerable and at least can help semi-enjoy your time. Material goods, electronics/games, movies, music, etc. Any form of escapism is better than nothing anon.

I don't think it's brainwashing or programming or anything, I think getting new stuff carries an inherent dopamine release, and consumer culture was born from it, not the other way around.
It's not nearly as long-lasting or satisfying as having good relationships, but for some people it's all they have.
