Incoming story.
Alright. So I had a gf for about 2.5 - 3 years. She was Latina, Mexican to be specific. Also it was a long distance thing.
I loved her so much. She made jokes about being pregnant and us getting married sometimes. Looking back, it was kinda cute. At the time I thought she was crazy for saying that stuff.
I ended up breaking up with her because I was getting pretty bored with the relationship and because I was going to basic military training.
I rationalized the breakup by saying you can find better than me and that's not the life I think you'd be happy with.
I was getting bored because I was running at 110% for her the past 2 years. (110% meaning always talking to her and shit like that. I'm a solitary kind of person so that was eating away at me slowly)
But actually that would've been better for our relationship. Being at boot camp would've put my mind to something other than her, and give us the break I needed so much.
So when I ended things I ripped the band-aid off. from her point of view it probably came out of nowhere. I told her I couldn't do it anymore.
She was devastated. But she accepted it. Breaking up with her was probably one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made in my life. She was definitely wife material.
The rationalizations I came up were bullshit too. I don't know why I threw her away. She would've been happy no matter what if she was with me. As of right now, It'll be something I'll wonder about on my death bed.
And that brings us to today. It had been a little over a year since we'd talked. The last thing she said to me went something like this. We can't be friends, it'll hurt too much. This is goodbye, not see you later.
The past week or so I've been wanting to get in touch with her. So I figured Christmas is a pretty good excuse and I went for it.
I feel like I fucked it up.
I think if I just kept quiet a bit longer it would've worked itself out.
Oh well. it is nice to have some closure.
