The chances are extremely slim you get actually get stationed in Japan, at least in the Army, but it can happen. We train with the JSDF every year at YTC in Washington though.
Our battalion commander told us one company is going to Japan next year though, hopefully it's ours since we have the best performance record in the battalion right now. One of our sister companies went to Thailand last summer to train.
