I have a big family but my parents are dumb with money so they're borderline poor and this last year my little brother started ruining his life with drugs. Also I'm 2,000 miles away.

No he kept going to raves and doing ecstasy and pot, dropped out of college from having a panic attack, went back to school, started using again, and dropped out a second time. Now he's out over a year's worth of tuition with nothing to show for it.
If he could use and still handle his shit (ie, pass his classes and get a degree without getting in legal trouble) it'd be fine, but instead he keeps fucking up.
Estranged from family, haven't seen any since 2012,went to see my mother and my sister. Really wished i hadn't. Family broke down when my parents split and my father took his favorite son and told me i was on my own for all he cared. Rest of my family doesn't consider me related. A distant cousin tried to contact me once but at the time i found out that he was in trouble for fucking children. I hate coming from a truly shit family.

my christmas consisted of me getting gifted a water filter to put in our fridge and a farmers almanac while my mom begged me to give her her wine back (even though i told her a thousand times i dumped it out because i wanted her to be sober for one holiday) while my dad screamed and acted crazy in general. oh yeah and my weird brother whose room looks like an episode of hoarders and doesnt shower for weeks at a time was there saying gibberish

I never said he was addicted. He's just fucking stupid and keeps wasting his time and money on it instead of STUDYING for his classes. Then he doesn't do his homework, doesn't study, and has panic attacks when he's about to fail a class.
Unfortunately I can't go and monitor him because I live so far away, so he's just going to keep fucking up and I can't do anything about it. It's frustrating.

It means that there is some other serious problem affecting his mental health. Few people get addicted to drugs without a predisposition for escaping themselves.

I doubt he has any serious mental problem aside from trying to major in computer science when he's not that smart, and being unable to cope with pressure/failure.
I do wish I could be there for him, though. I'd offer to have him move up here with me, but I can't have drugs in my house or I could lose my job.
