Can we just have a thread where we just sit around and have conversations with eachother?
>>25236434
That's every thread, dum-dum.
So what are some good rpgs you played?
>>25236434
How are you? Where did you get that picture from? It's pretty funny. Can I save it?
>>25236434
Did you know the stickers on fruit are edible?
>>25236444
Tabletop or Vidya?
>>25236444
Vidya or tabletop?
>>25236455
But why? I know it's a weird thing to ask, but...most people would try to avoid it anyway.
>>25236455
Well isn't everything edible if its small enough
>>25236459
>>25236469
Tabletop, they seem to have more interesting lore
>>25236469
Haha, you're yin and I'm yang!

I think it's illegal to put inedible shit on food in america, so they make the stickers and glue edible. I always eat them.
>>25236455
Just about everything's edible
Hell you can even eat cinder blocks if you wanted
>>25236493
Ah.
I suggest anything really old. Old school D&D hexcrawl campaigns are the best! A big map full of random wilderness and a few pre-designed megadungeons to test the mettle of the brave and greedy!

Twinsies!
>>25236493
Personally I LOVE the new system with the fantasy flight star wars games. It's fun as fuck.
>>25236578
How do you guys play those kind of games?
I always found games like D&D to be the most confusing jumblefuck ever
>>25236578
Aren't the earlier games simple and rely more on the gm?
>>25236539
That makes sense. How do they taste? Just like...stickers?
>>25236608
I played 5e. You get into it, and my first group walked me into it. Reading up on it helps but you'll never fully understand the situations where you have or should do things unless you actually play
>>25236566
but is that safe? the stickers are safe to eat.
>>25236609
like a small bit of paper, it's overpowered by the fruits taste.

This thread is shit. Why aren't you giving me attention?
>>25236652
Oh yeah they're safe, have you ever eaten a piece of paper before? It's a bit like that
So who here bought something nice for themselves for Xmas?
>>25236678
S-sorry. Your post got buried. I'm good, but I'm not OP
>>25236684
Cylinder blocks taste like paper?
>>25236705
They do when they're all grounded up
>>25236701
I bought a couple things around Christmas time along with my Christmas shopping. Dark Souls and DB Xenoverse
>>25236609
The early games rely more on everybody! Its more about cooperative narrative and taking nothing for granted. Survival, let alone victory, is not guaranteed after all.
I feel the later editions lost that magic and edge. Feels far too easy, too guaranteed and too assumed to fit some sort of DM narrative about how you and your plucky scooby-gang are the chosen ones destined to save the world from the villain. I'd rather hear a story about a cutthroat crew of desperate men trying to get put food in their stomachs and make something of their bleak lives.
The esoteric rules and old artwork certainly add a unique flair as well.
>>25236608
The older games are really easy to figure out once you see it in practice. Something things are better demonstrated.
>>25236670
Top.
Fucking.

Originality this is full of
>>25236720
Ahhh video games are perfect gifts to give yourself, I hope they give you plenty of joy
>>25236737
Post moar art while tell me moar. I understand that if you roll a low intelligence you are therefore illiterate. I kinda like that. It makes sense and I honestly kind of like it, but I understand why some would think of it as a crippling aspect of the old dnd games
>>25236771
In this day and age vidya provides the best enjoyment for a person. Maybe if I get better at building things I can buy a toolbox and some stuff.
Why am I not getting attention?
>>25236831
I responded to you tho friend
>>25236826
I've always wanted to get into building things but I've never had the space. I haven't really been playing video games for a while. The last one I played was black flag
>>25236670
>that one Its Not Unusual
Lost my shit
>>25236856
That was not enough. I'm really attention thirsty.
>>25236670
Jokes on you because this ain't half bad
>>25236859
Build something simple like a small bench and sell it. A small bench wouldn't take up space would it?
>>25236882
Have this attention.Hope you're happy.
Christmas with the family is finally over and I can retreat to my room and get drunk alone. Anyone else been playing Undertale? I just learned that you don't have to kill Toriel. That makes me sad.
>>25236791
Some people argue against early D&D because of the attrition rate and the dismal prospects for most characters. The trick is to create characters in batches and keep the cream of the crop alive so that their stats won't go wasted. Its not about heroism, its about survival.
Of course there are also plenty of house rules to 'fix' survivability and character generation in old/retro D&D. I never used them myself, I like a well rolled character to feel truly rare and valuable. To each their own!
warming up inside after a pissing pirouette on the lawn with balls out too
anyone else?
Normies fucking suck. Am I right, guys?
>>25237015
So have your character start out as a slightly defined nobody turn into a God? Kinda like Morrowind.
>>25237303
Occasionally you could get a character to a position of essentially 'Lord' or 'King'. In fact the original D&D rules had rather explicit stats for when a character reached prominence enough to gather followers and hold lands.
>>25237372
I need to play some old dnd. Sounds like a nice different experience.
>>25237265

Anyone of you want to talk? Gonna post a picture, maybe that'll help.
>>25237514
I'd be a wizard. The arcane arts in RPGs have been interesting me a lot lately
>>25237541
Being a Magic-User is super rough starting out, but the payoff eventually makes it all worthwhile.
I've been toying around with changing how quickly MU's recharge spells and possibly introducing useful 0 level cantrips. As it stands currently most MU's are chucking darts at the enemy and saving their sole level 1 spell for a rainy day. It can get kind of tedious and I say this as someone that really loves oD&D
im in idaho. how are you?

where are you coming from friend?
>>25237716

>>25237635
The spell charges, I just remembered that. It's a good balance system later on rather than early. The final fantasy games(NES) had spell charges and needless to say, spells were mostly useful in rough encounters, dungeons if necessary and bosses otherwise they'd be wasted. In FF3 it's better, but you still have to level a bit
>>25237748
