It was probably due to not going to the doctors inawhile, but I somehow got the impression I was actually 5'8. The nurse took one look at me and said "your not a 5'8", and knocked me down an entire two inches after scaling.

Don't bother to be sad about. 5'6 isnt the height when people will notice your shortness over your another features. Yes, thats short for modern world, but not abnormally short, pretty acceptably short. I am 5'8 myself.
