ITT: we discuss the times we fucked up, give honest advice to people still going through hard times, and tell what we learned from our mistakes so others might benefit from them.
>Be me
>Determined to become an engineer
>Go into community college to save money
>end up with a shitty GPA
>Can't transfer anywhere
I failed because my mental health was abysmal, and learned that some people just aren't meant for success.
>be me
>22 year old senior CS student
>liberal arts college
>degree is 70-80 percent theoretical bullshit
>never teach same language twice for some reason
>get decent grades, 3.25 GPA
>still be absolute dogshit at programming
>don't get internships for 2 years, finally get an unpaid one
>have to apply for jobs recently
>Google likes my resume, sends me a 60 minute coding test with "easy" cs problems
>fuck up both problems, gives partial answers, one doesn't compile
>other technical tests go like this too
>these are pretty easy things like string manipulation and integer manipulation
>fuck up everything
>only have 3-4 personal projects over 4 years
>all are /dpt/ level bullshit, game of life program and a couple webpages I host on my RHEL box
>realize that I probably won't get a job by the time I graduate
>parents tell everyone I'm getting a job at google
>people from high school and around my old town keep adding me on social media asking to go out to see movies and eat with me
>single mom's from school start flirting with me and saying how they always had a crush on me
>they all think I'm some big hotshot because some big tech company thought "this guy's resume is acceptable, send him onto the next step"
>mfw it's all a lie and I'll probably end up being a low level code monkey living with my parents and barely being able to handle my job

That sound's pretty tough. How many applications have you sent out? You've got a high GPA and work experience under your belt. I'm sure somebody will take you!
I'd hire you anon.
